Deviation Actions
I'm being more selective about the deviations that are being accepted/submitted to the group.
There has always been a standard of high quality images, but that standard has sometimes been relaxed for outstanding costumes. Although there is still leeway, I find that with the number of amazing photos out there, that I fudge those decisions much less than I did in the beginning.
If you submitted an item and it was rejected, and you know it was a good costume, it was probably the photograph that got it rejected. Hotel lobby shots are harder to accept anymore. Shots where you are just standing there in your costume - no pose, or poorly posed - don't make the cut much. And shots where anime boys are making out, or cute anime girls are lying on the ground looking at the camera upside down almost never make it.
And, as I told one or two deviants who asked - it doesn't always mean the photo was bad. Sometimes it is just that the photo does not feature the cosplay well enough - you can't see it, can't appreciate the craftsmanship that went into the costume.

The Basics of Shooting Better Cosplay Photography
"Cosplay photography is something that should be done right–it should be more than a snapshot of the costume that someone worked hours and hours on to get right. Conversely, it should also be something that you’ll be able to take pride in at the end of the quick session." - by Chris Gampat, www.thephoblographer.com on 07/25/2014

This is Bestof Cosplay (How an image is accepted)
I've had a few more questions lately about why an image didn't get accepted, or what qualifies to be included, so I thought I would try to expand on the things that influence my decisions a little bit. You can read the earlier entries here http://bestofcosplay.deviantart.com/journal/What-makes-the-Bestof-Cosplay-253554203 and here http://bestofcosplay.deviantart.com/journal/For-the-record-298284484 if you aren't familiar.
There is a level of subjectivity in making selections. What gets accepted one day might not get accepted the next, but generally speaking it's about following good photography principals in the image, and good craftsmansh
Been gone awhile
I've been away from dA and BoC for a while, but I'm reviewing the submissions *including all expired ones*. I've got literally hundreds of submissions and thousands of posts, so please be patient...
Multiple group submissions
In the past 2 days a few members have submitted a lot of their own images to the galleries. Since it takes a long time for us to go through these submissions, and it ends up with many of their submissions being rejected, I thought I would post a few suggestions on how to make sure your submission *does* get included.
* If you have multiple images of the same cosplay, please select only one or two to submit. Pick your best! Those are the ones that will most likely be selected, and those are the ones that will get people visiting your gallery for more.
* If you have many different cosplays that you
